چکیده
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer of women. According to statistics, one out of every eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Thanks to recent advances in medicine, there are more and more effective methods in the treatment of breast cancer. Since the cause of breast cancer is unknown, early detection is very important. If detected early, the fiveyear survival rate exceeds 95%. A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breasts. It is used to detect tumors and cysts and to help differentiate between benign (non cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) cases. The success of treatment depends on early detection. Mammography can show changes in the breasts well before the patient recognizes it.

Classification of Breast Tissue by Texture Analysis
The identification of glandular tissue in breast X-rays (mammograms) is important both in assessing asymmetry between left and right breasts, and in estimating the radiation risk associated with mammographic screening. The appearance of glandular tissue in mammograms is highly variable, ranging from sparse streaks to dense blobs. Fatty regions are generally smooth and dark. Texture analysis pro...
متن کاملTexture Analysis and Artificial Neural Network for Detection of Clustered Microcalcifications on Mammograms
Clustered microcalcifications on X-ray mammograms are an important sign in the detection of breast cancer. This paper quantitatively describes the usefulness of texture analysis methods for the detection of clustered microcalcifications on digitized mammograms. Comparative studies of texture analysis methods are performed for the proposed texture analysis method, called the surrounding region d...
متن کاملMammogram synthesis using a 3D simulation. II. Evaluation of synthetic mammogram texture.
We have evaluated a method for synthesizing mammograms by comparing the texture of clinical and synthetic mammograms. The synthesis algorithm is based upon simulations of breast tissue and the mammographic imaging process. Mammogram texture was synthesized by projections of simulated adipose tissue compartments. It was hypothesized that the synthetic and clinical texture have similar properties...
متن کاملAbstract—An image texture analysis and target recognition approach of using an improved image texture feature coding method (TFCM) and Support Vector Machine
An image texture analysis and target recognition approach of using an improved image texture feature coding method (TFCM) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) for target detection is presented. With our proposed target detection framework, targets of interest can be detected accurately. Cascade-Sliding-Window technique was also developed for automated target localization. Application to mammogram s...

متن کاملComputer Aided Classification of Architectural Distortion in Mammograms Using Texture Features
Computer aided diagnosis systems provide vital opinion to radiologists in the detection of early signs of breast cancer from mammogram images. Architectural distortions, masses and microcalcifications are the major abnormalities. In this paper, a computer aided diagnosis system has been proposed for distinguishing abnormal mammograms with architectural distortion from normal mammogram. Four typ...
